Privacy Policy
This privacy policy has been compiled to better serve those who are concerned with
how their ‘Personally identifiable information’ (PII) is being used online.
Today more than ever there is a need for secure communications. Salt Communications believes that your private communications are your business. Keeping your private communications safe is our business.
As a legal business you have the right to own your conversations. This is why Salt Communications gives you full control over how you manage and deploy your secure communications system.
If you choose to use our secure data centre then you can rest assured that it meets the highest standards expected from such a service. If you choose to deploy within your own network we will work with you to make sure it is as secure as your environment allows it to be.
Our management portal acts as a trusted secure interface to control the communication groups. End users of the system CANNOT freely invite new users to communicate with Salt Communications or their clients. It is a closed private system by default. Controlling the flow of information within your business circles is key to securing your most sensitive real time conversations.
The most information we hold about an individual user on our system is an email address. We may need this to invite you onto the system and allow you to download the secure communicator onto your iOS and Android devices. This is held either on your premises or in a secure data centre and never provided to any external parties. If you have the system deployed privately within your own data centre we will not see the individual users of the system and will not have access to the system after deployment. If you choose to NOT use an email address or phone number to invite new users onto the system it is possible to manually generate new activation keys on the management portal and deliver these activation keys “offline” to new users.
Some customers wish to track usage on the system for compliance and monitoring purposes. We can support that and you will be able to see reports about messages sent and calls made on the system. Other customers do not wish to track this type of meta-data. This is called Privacy Mode. For these customers, in order to track system health we will update aggregate counters to show that calls have happened or that messages have been sent. We do not collect time stamps or participants in the calls or messaging. Our SaaS system NEVER collects any message or call content.
Salt Communications works with partners to provide security products to legally operating businesses. Our partners are chosen because they are credible and trusted by their customers and the marketplace. If we ever find that the product is being used for any illegal or unethical activities we reserve the right to immediately revoke your access to the Salt Communications system and all of its components.
We take your right to secure your communications very seriously. We are committed to evolving the system to meet the growing needs of our customer base.
