On Monday 22nd November 2021, Salt Communications hosted their final webinar of the year. Closing off the year, Salt Communications CEO, Joe Boyle discussed the rise of Pegasus attacks and the challenge of securing the modern workplace.
The Israeli business NSO Group develops, markets, and licences Pegasus hacking software – or spyware – to governments all around the world. It has the power to infect billions of smartphones running on iOS or Android. Researchers discovered Pegasus in 2016 as mobile-targeted malware after it was employed in a targeted attack against a social activist. Pegasus is likely something you will have seen in the news in recent years and you may have seen it most recently following a study from Forbidden Labs alleging that the software is still being used by governments to target journalists, activists, and dissidents. Inevitably, this has sparked a debate in the security world, leading businesses of all kinds to rethink their mobile security strategies. As a secure communications platform we felt the need to try and educate organisations on how to best protect themselves.
In this webinar, CEO and Co-Founder Joe Boyle reviews: the history of Pegasus, from its beginnings to its present forms; the impact of Pegasus and other high-risk mobile apps on organisations all across the world and recommendations on how to protect yourself against mobile dangers and zero-day assaults.
